Standards & credibility
This course is aligned with the standards below. CPD hours are claimable; accreditation by an external body remains separate.
Someone asked you for it.
Asbestos awareness is not a licence, and no single course is mandated nationally — but a PCBU must show its workers were informed, so it turns up as a condition of getting on site.
You will feel nothing at the time.
Built for the trades who actually run into it.
More than a video and a tick box.
You have to actually pass it.
Ten scenario questions drawn from all six modules. Not definitions — decisions, like the ones you make on site.
What this course is — and is not
- ✓General awareness training on asbestos hazards for Australian worksites
- ✓Designed to help you meet your duty to be informed before you pick up a tool
- ✓Recognised by many builders as evidence of induction
- ✓Written and reviewed by certified occupational hygiene professionals
- ✕Nationally accredited training or a Statement of Attainment
- ✕A removal licence or an asbestos assessor qualification
- ✕Accepted for asbestos work in the ACT, which requires accredited face-to-face training
Common questions
Is this nationally accredited?
No. This is a non-accredited awareness course and you receive a Certificate of Completion, not a Statement of Attainment. If your work requires nationally recognised training — most notably any asbestos work in the ACT — you need the accredited 11084NAT course delivered face to face by a registered training organisation.
Will a head contractor accept this certificate?
Many do. Asbestos awareness commonly appears in subcontractor prequalification packs and site inductions as evidence that workers have been informed, and a Certificate of Completion with a verification number satisfies that. Some sites specify nationally accredited training instead — if you are buying for a specific job, ask the head contractor which they require before you enrol.
How does the knowledge check work?
Ten scenario-based questions drawn from all six modules. You need eight correct to pass. You get three attempts — if you do not pass on the third, the course resets and you work through the modules again before retesting. Your access period is unchanged.
How long do I have access?
Six months from the date of purchase. Your certificate is valid for 12 months from the date you pass and stays downloadable after course access closes.
Can I buy for my crew?
Yes. Team seats start at ten and come with enrolment codes, a completion dashboard and an exportable register for audits. We accept purchase orders and invoicing — email info@ohconsultant.com.au.
